Hey anyone here got any experience, share share leh? are you the rager or ragee ?

It was decades ago. It was late after midnight supper. My dad and a friend and me (little kid) took a cab from Beach Road. Two-stop was the instruction given, first Bendemeer (for my dad and me), then to send my dad's friend to Balestier.

The cabbie was a big singh. He said OK. But at Bendemeer, he reset meter and demanded fare payment, then continue to Balestier would be another fare payment. Of course my dad and his friend protested. Arguing until came out of taxi and stood up to argue like ready to fight. The singh was about a full head taller than my dad. But my dad ended the argument with a punch onto car door, a dent so deep nobody would believe not caused by hammer or collision with another vehicle.

My dad said, now, you going to call police, insurance company or send my friend home. There's a fourth choice. We settle this at the park behind one-by-one. The singh cabbie was shell shocked (actually me shell shocked too).

The singh cabbie in apparently in panic reacted OK OK, will send my dad's friend home without additional charge. However, the most funny part. My dad's friend said, no no nevermind. He'd take another cab and pay. My dad asked why? He replied, his fist not as tough, if the singh beat him up halfway for revenge, he's dead.

You dad was absolutely right to stand up for your rights against the cabbie, who had obviously gone back on the earlier agreement.
But your dad did 2 things which were not right.
Firstly, he should not have punched the cab and made a dent. You didn't mention anything about the cabbie raising his fists right?
Secondly, he should not have left the situation like that. Once you and your dad alighted, the cabbie could have "taken care" of his friend and worse, called for backup. Your dad's friend made the right decision.
