A retiree was fined $1,000 and banned from driving for six months on Tuesday for inconsiderate driving.
Ravindran Kelappan Kelu, 65, who pleaded guilty to the amended charge, was driving along Woodlands Avenue 6 when he failed to give way to motorcyclist Mohd Mushaddad Saad, 49, while making a U-turn at the cross-junction on Sept 9, 2010.
He, however, could not complete the turn as his turning radius was too wide. He then reversed his car while trying to complete the turn.
Just then, Mr Mushaddad who was travelling on the centre lane of the road sounded his horn at Ravindran while applying emergency braking. But he was unable to stop his motorcycle, which skidded forward and hit the left side of the car.
