I am most flabbergasted by the sheer intellectual dishonesty of The Straits Times to pull a wool over our eyes in its desperate attempt to cover up for the PAP’s blunders.
The title of this “breaking news” published on 14 February 2009 in The Straits Times couldn’t be more misleading - “Reserves unaffected by losses“. Yeah right, why not add “is still growing” behind ? (Read the article here)
The opening sentence is a blatant attempt to mock at our intelligence:
“The questions came thick and fast, but Senior Minister of State for Finance Lim Hwee Hua responded assuringly.”
I don’t find the questions posed by the YP members of any substance and the response by Lim Hwee Hua are merely laughable pathetic non-answers which will make a primary school kid blush in embarrassment. Is this the kind of “talent” we have now in YPAP ?
Lim Hwee Hua tried to put up a stout defence of her boss by arguing Singapore’s reserves will not be depleted by losses incurred by Temasek and GIC. Even if there is only 1% of the reserves left, it is still not depleted. Must we wait till the day when we are bankrupted before Ms Lim face up to reality ?
