This is what happens if hawkers do not increase price. It is a matter of survival. Sinkies only good at kpkb but unable to reason why and who is responsible for the increase. Ramesh and friends will support Sinkie hawkers.

There is little need for hawkers serving hawker food to increase prices.

a)HDB hawker centers are funded & subsidized by taxpayers. Each hawker can freely bid for a stall, even at $1/mth, but generally it is around $300/mth. as HDB has management teams to ensure that a stall can survive with the right mix of food based upon ethnicity & competition

b) Such assistance for hawkers came from altruism of founding & forefathers - to give Singaporeans whom may have little skills, little opportunities, etc to earn an honest living as we will leave no one behind.

c)Even at the height of the RUS-UKR war, where food prices shot up due to lack of fertilizers for animal feed, we Singapore had managed to SOURCE for cheaper alternatives than to pay an arm & leg for a piece of chicken meat, a slice of beef, or a sliver of fish, etc. Thus prices were kept low. We are fortunate because we are a PORT city, where all trade goods will pass thru...

d) Do not, & never under-estimate the earning power of a hawker. At $3/cai peng meal, a hawker would earn a gross profit of $500 PER DAY with just 166 plates sold. That's $10,000/mth of a mere 20days. Less the costs of overheads, it would be at least nett profit of $7000/mth. Such earnings are higher than the avg National salary of $5000/mth.

e)It is only natural that an establishment that lasted for 82yrs would be staffed by 2 generations. Everyone grows old, & probably the owner whom already had made much money & grew old, would equally & naturally retire, & not because of rent increases. So do use CRITICAL THINKING in absorbing news from others.....

However, for those who chose to work at food courts of private owned coffee shops, their rentals would be high, with some even bidding at $10,000/mth. Make no mistakes, for their boasts, such costs would be passed onto consumers. They better be serving Michelin starred food, otherwise within months, they would close down.

OCBC Sues to Recover Losses From Singapore Money-Laundering Case

Singaporean lender OCBC has filed several claims in the High Court seeking over S$6 million ($4.6 million) from three foreign nationals who are possibly linked to the S$3 billion money-laundering case.

In court documents seen by the Business Times, claims were initiated against Xu Haika and Wu Yamei, who had purchased two three-bedroom units on the 43rd floor of South Beach Residences. Lin Baoying, one of the 10 convicted in the case, as well as Su Yongcan, who is a person of interest to the police, had bought a unit in the same development.

Really 为国为民啊!

Reality bites: should Singapore spend more to curb rising costs?

As inflation weighs heavily on young families and older citizens alike, observers argue Singaporeans need more than just short-term relief

As Singapore grapples with rising living costs, growing discontent sweeping through society – from young couples to seniors – is set to be a major pain point for the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) as it gears up for the next general election.

While newly minted Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has acknowledged awareness of the issue, observers say the real test will be ensuring that as few residents as possible feel left out in the cold.

The PAP government’s approach to addressing rising cost of living pressures often relies on superficial measures rather than structural change, much like giving patients sugar cubes instead of treating the underlying disease,” said Kenneth Paul Tan, a professor of politics, film and cultural studies at Hong Kong Baptist University.

While the government has started to explore progressive policies on housing and expanding social safety nets, Tan argues that true reform requires “substantial political courage” and genuine public support.

No, this is what happens when this shithole island is run like a moneylaundering hub.

The PAP regime is trying to gaslight you that this is 'normal' or due to some 'external circumstances' beyond their control. They are trying to insult your intelligence.

The insignificant nobody me once lived under her constituency. She may look small in stature, but her perseverance to get to where she is today since childhood - a true blue blooded citizen, her drive, her dedication to citizens, her intellect, etc knows no bounds, to save lives, which towers far above the tallest Human on Earth.

Thru her management, Jurong had grown far beyond what most other citizens would dream capable of - OPPORTUNITIES of life where most skilled jobs are located as well as the logistic, amenities to grow life into that often disregarded small district & today, even with her continued support for LRT & even rail links into Msia, thru hardwork, hard headed decisions made within Parliament, along the corridors of halls of power, often silent, unreported & unknown to most but EVIDENT by progress of Jurong, & much, much more to alleviate pains with pragmatism & uplift lives, etc.

That's just a small view of her immense capability to uplift lives, of not just her constituency, but Singapore as well.

Ultimately, it is the heart (& mind) that matters in governance. An elected govt's role is to provide the NEEDS of citizens to survive, & not the WANTS of populism which lays within the realms of scamming demagogues whom would promise the unattainable sky & moon for their own survival, & NOT society...

Although I no longer live in her constituency, who she represents - the virtues of not just survival, but progress & evolution. gets my vote.....
