Ren Ci hospital opens

<!-- by line --> By April Chong

Pay $110 for Charity show again on mediacorpse? :D

REN Ci's community hospital was officially opened on Monday, after more than a decade of setbacks and delays. With the addition of the new 277-bedded community hospital at Irrawaddy Road, and together with its nursing home and chronic care facilities, Ren Ci can now take in 661 patients. Senior Minister Prof. S Jayakumar, who was at the official opening, noted the new leadership at Ren Ci has done well in regaining the standard of its governance and regaining the trust of stakeholders. He urged members of the public and companies to continue supporting Ren Ci to enable it to 'focus on its primary mission of proving healthcare to its patients.' The charity group, which was plagued by the scandal of its former chief Buddhist monk Ming Yi, saw donations plunging in the last few years.

It will be running a charity show later this month to raise funds to cover an almost $10 million shortfall expected for the current financial year, said its chief James Toi.
