The management committee did not know how much they were paying their chief executive.

They could have asked, admitted Ren Ci's committee member Chan Ching Oi, but they did not.

Instead they let it's CEO and founder Ming Yi decide on what he deemed to be a 'fair' salary, Mrs Chan said on the witness stand yesterday, while testifying on the third day of a criminal trial against the Buddhist monk.

Prosecutor quizzed Chan, 70 about a sudden jump in Ming Yi's salary in 2001 -from $16,000 in May to $20,700 in June.

What in the world do they need a managment committee for, when they do not know, how much the CEO is paid?

Didn't they read the minutes of the CGM?, detailing the financial reports, which would include the CEO pay!

if that is the case, the management C should be held accountable, since they sign on the annual report, and all submissions to the authority.

what goverence, what trasnparency???

Nowadays, it's either don't know, don't care, forgot, honest mistake, someone else's fault, see no evil, hear no evil, smell no evil.

I think that the entire Ren Ci management committee should be charged, or at least be investigated, for negligence of duty.

This is even more rediculous than the AIG fiasco. At least the AIG management know how much each staff is paid in bonus.

I'm sure a lot of wallstreet bankers will be applying for the monk's post if he is disposed.

The salary column of the offer letter is left blank. The successful candidate will need to fill in the numers........

Anyone, who dictate their own salary are crooks and should be charged for corruption, no matter now they try to legalize it.

NKF, Renchi, PAP are all the same model.

Thot monk already denounced all worldly possession once they entered monkhood ?
Some CEO also dun make SGD$16,000 per month not to mention SGD$20,700.
NKF and Ren Ci are out to cheat donation money.

It is very clear that Ming Yi had violate his monkhood vow and regulations,....for any buddhist institution,,all monies or goods donated shall be going to the temple or buddhist organisation ,be it a society or institution..NOTHING go to personal account..all months were only given what is necessary to sustain their worldly bodies,,
ie.denouncement of all worldly things , monies included.
A vow is 1000 times more serios than human laws,if Ming Yi had breach his monkhood vow. he probably need to repent his sin thoughout his stay in the human prison..which is ideal for a monk,,spartan condition and solitude helps human soul to repent...

That's the problem when one decide his own pay. It applies to Religions, Charities, Businesses and Politics.

Now this fake monk is caught, same as the charity man and youth organization head. The law is punishing them and the media make them look real bad.

But what about those who are above the law or manupulating it? who can bring them to justice?

You must understand one thing. This is a Buddhist organization and the head is a monk. One rule states that layman Buddhist should not interfere in matters relating the the Sanghas. the Sanghas will deal with their matters internally. The logic of this rule is that the Sanghas are supposed to be of higher spiritual level the the layman and the layman's wisdom is insufficient to judge the behaviour of the Sanghas.

To me it is a rediculous rule because now no one dare to question what ever the Sanghas are doing. As far as I am concern, there are far less Sanghas whom worth much respect judging on the way they act. In fact most Sanghas in Singapore is so affected by the worldly gains that they have lost their original goal for spiritual practice.

Without the PAP, I will still be here...maybe poorer, hungrier, sicklier..still be here!

Without the people's dedication & hard work, through the people's blood , sweat & tears...there will be no glory for the PAP!

You are saying...all those who are CEO's, ministers etc...salaries, must never be questioned?, wether politrical , charities etc!!??

So, we should give them a blank cheque....or auto GIRO's!!??
