It might become easier to rent a car in Japan, thanks to a new technology being embraced by Orix Auto Corp., which is testing a voice-and-display system that enables simultaneous translation in Okinawa.
Words spoken by tourists and Orix staff appear on a display screen instantly as they speak in different languages, with typing available on an attached keyboard. The system developed by Toppan Holdings Inc. can handle 13 languages including English, Chinese and Vietnamese.
