Redditor: Why all the hate against foreigners?

Hi there. I am not born and bred Singaporean. I moved here at a very young age, went to primary, secondary school, JC, NS and Uni here. I obviously don't look local and has been the target of hostilities, discriminatory remarks from strangers and people i meet for the first time. When people get to know me, they will say. Oh, you are practically Singaporean! You are not one of them. What i don't understand is, why the hate from some people? Why do people feel it's ok to make someone uncomfortable just because they are non local?

Foreigners to them are either inferior people from asia or white masters from the west.

Now that the rest of asia has caught up they cannot accept it.

The answer to that piece of shitty question is as simple as: IT IS BASED ON SINGAPOREANS EXPERIENCES ABOUT FOREIGNERS. NOT 1 OR 2 INCIDENTS, NOT BASED ON COUPLE OF YEARS OF BEING BULLIED, BUT NEARLY DECADE OF BEING BULLDOZED, BADLY TREATED IN FOREIGNERS FAVOUR BY OUR GOVT. WHAT THEY DID TO OUR PEOPLE IN FAVOUR OF THEIR OWN TRIBE, REPLACING SINGAPOREANS TO THE VERY LAST ONE SITTING AT THE LOW END OF THE OFFICE CUBICLES, FORCING MANY TO BECOME GRAB DRIVERS, SECURITY GUARDS, DISH WASHERS, RUN AWAY FROM DOING NATIONAL SERVICES AFTER GAINING SOME PRIVILEDGES HERE. IF THERE IS STILL THE LAST OUNCE OF ANY POSITIVE TO SQUEEZE OUT ABOUT FOREIGNERS, THERE IS NONE TO SPEAK OF.

If the people of that particular country do not welcome you as resident there, then you should not go there. Just stay at your birth country and make a living in your birth country

the high caste ones who come over are fine, its the lower caste ones who come with the chip on their shoulder and start to act up against local low SES folks. like this ramesh chap, very unlikely he is a vegetarian of the high brahmin caste.
