The Home Team should be reassured that Singaporeans generally trust and appreciate their work, declared Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Teo Chee Hean.
Speaking at the Home Affairs Uniformed Services Scholarships Award ceremony on Saturday, Mr Teo said based on a recent survey by the Home Affairs Ministry done between December 2011 and May 2012, Singaporeans generally appreciate the work of the Home Team in building a safe and secure environment.
More than 2,000 Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents took part in the survey.
“Our officers deal with issues that concern life and death. This requires them to be diligent and disciplined in carrying out their duties, and not buckle under pressure or take the easy way out. Our officers are often called upon to apply a multi-disciplinary approach, deploying both hard and soft skills to deal with complex situations,” Mr Teo said.
He added the findings reassures Home Team officers that their service is appreciated and they have earned the trust of Singaporeans.
