SINGAPORE: Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean said residents in Punggol East are likely to be concerned about local issues.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a community event at Sengkang Community Club on Saturday, Mr Teo said he knows the area well as he has attended Meet-the-People sessions there.
He said many Punggol East residents are concerned about things that impact their daily lives and surroundings, such as transport and education.
He added that the People's Action Party (PAP) has been working hard on the ground in Punggol East, helping residents to resolve issues related to childcare, school and jobs.
On the possibility of a multi-cornered by-election fight in the single-member constituency, Mr Teo said the PAP will remain focused on the ground and do its best to serve the people.
