Raids to curb illegal gambling and vice
PETALING JAYA: Police will go all out to conduct raids on illegal gambling and vice syndicates in the district to curb such activities, said OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed.
He said police would be working round the-clock with several government agencies to monitor such activities.
“We conducted 294 raids on suspected prostitution dens last year and a majority of such outlets were in Damansara, Dataran Mentari and Sungai Buloh areas,” he said, adding that 816 foreigners aged between 20 and 40 were arrested.
ACP Arjunaidi also said police carried out 519 raids on illegal gambling outlets and seized 7,351 gambling machines.
He said his officers would be focusing their operations next on illegal nightclubs, massage parlours and amusement centres.
“We will also work closely with the local government to revoke the licences of nightclubs and massage parlours found to be operating beyond the stipulated rules,” he said.
