It was supposed to be a drug raid.
But Kuala Lumpur police found not just pills in a condominium unit in Cheras, but also an entire arsenal of weapons, reported The Star.
City police chief Mohmad Salleh said a team from the Cheras district raided the unit at Petaling Indah Condominium at 4.30pm on Monday after a tip-off.
"A search revealed 1,941 Ecstasy pills and 700g of ketamine drugs valued at about RM100,000 (S$40,000)," he told reporters at the City police headquarters on Wednesday.
"We also found a loaded Colt Magnum .22 pistol, 59 bullets, knives, brass knuckles, a finger claw, a sickle and two samurai swords as well as a live hand grenade."
Refused to open
Deputy Commissioner Mohmad said the police officers had to break down the door after the people inside refused to open up.
Four people - two Singaporean men and two women from China and Vietnam - surrendered almost immediately and were arrested.
The Malay Mail reported that the two women are believed to be drug mules hired by the two Singaporean suspects.
Several laptop computers, handphones, documents and two cars - a Chevrolet Optra and a Volvo S80 with a Singapore vehicle registration number - were also seized.
The grenade was handed over to the police bomb squad and will be detonated at a safe location.
Mr Mohmad said the suspects, aged between 25 and 39, are now in remand and police are investigating what they had intended to do with the weapons.
They are also being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act, the Weapons Act and the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act.
Police believe the suspects are linked to a triad as the samurai sword bore a Chinese inscription which read "loyalty, bravery and belief".
"We are now checking the duo's background and whether they are related to any triads here or other countries," said Mr Mohmad.
Checks showed that the two male suspects entered Malaysia about a month ago, while the two female accomplices arrived in the country early this year.
