LOS ANGELES - A 4.7 magnitude earthquake hit central California late on Friday, the US government reported.
The epicenter of the tremor, which occurred at 6.09pm local time (0109 GMT Saturday, 9.09am Singapore time), was located 11km south of the central Californian town of Keeler, according to the US Geological Survey.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The reading was based on the open-ended Moment Magnitude scale, now used by US seismologists, which measures the area of the fault that ruptured and the total energy released. -- AFP
