A purchase analyst was sentenced to four weeks' jail on Friday for intruding into the privacy of his tenant by taking a video recording of her showering.
Suresh Nagarajan, 33, had admitted to insulting the modesty of the 26-year-old woman at his flat in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 on April 20 last year. The court heard that Suresh, who is married, was using his laptop at about 12.30am that day when he saw the victim going into the toilet.
He took his mobile phone and went to the toilet. There, he stretched his hand between the window panes into the toilet, and took a video recording of the victim who was showering. The victim did not notice anything amiss until she was almost done when she saw the hand holding the cellphone through the window.
Shocked, she immediately came out and told her boyfriend, who then confronted Suresh and asked to take a look at his cellphone which had two video clips, one of which showed the victim showering and reaching out for her towel.
