Public warned of luxury ship job scam
KUALA LUMPUR: The public is advised not to be misled by offer of employment in the luxury shipping industry in international waters by a company using the name of Sea Wave Cruise Line (Malaysia). The Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM), in a statement issued here Friday, said certain irresponsible individuals had managed to attract the public's attention, especially foreign citizens, with interesting job offers that paid handsome returns.
"Their modus operandi is advertising, through websites, employment offers from more than 100 luxury shipping companies which need their services.
"The individual persons also managed to convince the public by offering them work permits and travel documents managed by legal firms in Malaysia," the statement added.
The commission emphasised that there was no company incorporated in Malaysia with the name Sea Wave Cruise Line (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and urged the public to refer to its e-info service at http://www.ssm-einfo.my for information regarding registration of any company/business. Further information is available by calling CCM's hotline at 02-22995500. - Bernama
