A magnetohydrodynamic drive or MHD propulsor is a method for propelling vessels using only electric and magnetic fields with no moving parts, using magnetohydrodynamics.


The working principle involves electrification of the propellant (gas or water) which can then be directed by a magnetic field, pushing the vehicle in the opposite direction. Although some working prototypes exist, MHD drives remain impractical due to the slow speeds at which they generally propel a vessel and the large amount of energy needed to operate them.[1][2]

Principle
Ship propulsion
An electric current is passed through seawater in the presence of an intense magnetic field, which interacts with the magnetic field of the current through the water. Functionally, the seawater is then the moving, conductive part of an electric motor. Pushing the water out the back accelerates the vehicle in the forward direction.


The physics equation describing this propelling force is Fmag = I (L × B) where L is the vector in the direction of the current 'I' and its length is the distance the current travels, B is the magnetic field, and × denotes the cross product. MHD is attractive because it has no moving parts, which means that a good design might be silent, reliable, and efficient. Additionally, the MHD design eliminates many of the wear and friction pieces of the drivetrain with a directly driven propeller by an engine. The major problem with MHD is that with current technologies, it is more expensive, and much slower, than a propeller driven by an engine.[1][2] The extra expense is from the large generator that must be driven by an engine. Such a large generator is not required when an engine directly drives a propeller.

说到战略核潜艇，我们还得从联合国五大常任理事国说起，目前联合国五大常任理事国只有中美俄三国保留“三位一体”核反击体系，而英国和法国都放弃了陆基和空基打击平台，但是五大常任理事国都有一个共同点，就是都保留了海基核打击平台，也就是战略核潜艇。俄罗斯哪怕穷的造不起军舰，都要维持昂贵的战略核潜艇，可见战略核潜艇在各国中的地位有多重要。为什么五大常任理事国对战略核潜艇都情有独钟呢？那是因为不管是陆基还是空基核反击平台，都不保险，而战略核潜艇几乎无法锁定，一直以来都是拥核国家作为二次核打击的核心力量。

目前拥有核潜艇国家也只有中美俄英法这五个国家，分别是美国的俄亥俄级战略核潜艇，俄罗斯的北风之神级核潜艇，英国的前卫级战略核潜艇，法国的凯旋级战略核潜艇以及中国的094级核潜艇，印度虽然也有核潜艇，但是印度的核潜艇是租俄罗斯的，不算自己的，所以不把它算在内。相对于美俄英法四国战略导弹核潜艇，中国的094级核潜艇就显得落后很多，094级战略导弹核潜艇不仅排水量低，而且搭载和潜射导弹不到8000公里，而美俄英法四国的战略导弹核潜艇的潜射导弹射程都超过1万公里。

就拿美国的俄亥俄级战略核潜艇来说，俄亥俄级潜艇的排水量高达1.87万吨，比中国的094级核潜艇大了整整7750吨，俄亥俄级战略核潜艇可以搭载24枚射程达到1.13万公里的三叉戟IID导弹，而094级核潜艇只能搭载12枚射程只有7400公里的巨浪2型潜射导弹，噪音方面，俄亥俄级的噪音只有110分贝，接近海洋背景噪音，而094级核潜艇的噪音超过125分贝，所以很容易被探测，中国的战略核潜艇急需升级换代。

近日，有美国媒体报道中国最新研制的下一代战略导弹核潜艇096级核潜艇被发现正在下海海试，096级核潜艇与094级核潜艇相比，在作战性能上得到了大幅度的提升。虽然这个消息没有被证实，但是依据中国武器的研发规律，也就是“装备一代，设计一代，论证一代”，可以知道096级核潜艇有可能已经建成并且在进行测试了，因为094核潜艇服役距今已经8年了，在这8年的时间内，中国完全有能力设计、研制、并且建造下一代战略导弹核潜艇，也就是096级核潜艇。

096级核潜艇的代号是“唐”，也就是“唐”级战略导弹核潜艇，096级核潜艇取消了094级核潜艇的“龟壳”设计，采用全艇滴水线型设计外形，水上排水量1.4万吨，水下排水量超过1.6万吨，最大下潜深度达到600米，在096级战略达到核潜艇身上，还配备了新研制的巨浪-3型潜射导弹，这款新型潜射导弹的射程达到1.2万公里，具备全球目标打击能力，在搭载数量上，096级核潜艇搭载的潜射导弹也达到了24枚，一旦096级核潜艇服役，单单一艘096级核潜艇的核武器就可以毁灭一个中等国家，还可以瘫痪一个世界大国，它将成为中国名副其实的镇国利器。

黄旭华原本的志向是和父母一样学医。1944年夏，日军攻占长沙，西南大撤退开始。他徒步走了几天的山路赶往已经搬迁到重庆的学校，一路都有日军战机的轰炸，有时要在山洞里躲整整一天……当时黄旭华心里很愤怒：“一个没有国防的国家，连一张安静的书桌都放不下，我不学医了，我要去学航空学造军舰。”之后，他就考取了上海交通大学造船系。

1958年，国防科委组建，黄旭华等人组成了研制导弹核潜艇的29人的小队伍，平均年龄不到30岁。上世纪50年代末的中国，没有一个人真正懂得核潜艇，也没有任何参考资料。1959年10月，赫鲁晓夫访华时傲慢地说：“核潜艇技术复杂，价格昂贵，你们搞不了！”此后不久，毛泽东说出了让黄旭华那一代科研工作者心潮澎湃的话：“核潜艇，一万年也要搞出来！”

“从物质到知识，用一穷二白来形容一点也不为过。现在回头去看，当时连基本的研制条件都不具备，我们就开始干了。”黄旭华回忆说。在没有任何参考资料的条件下，黄旭华和同事们大海捞针一般从国外的新闻报道中搜罗有关核潜艇的只言片语，用算盘和计算尺去计算核潜艇上的大量数据。

为了保证计算的准确，研制人员分成两三组，分别单独进行计算，出现不同结果重新再算，直到得出一致的数据。这让1988年跟随黄旭华参与核潜艇深潜试验、现任某研究所型号总设计师的张锦岚觉得“不可想象”：“核潜艇的数据，要运用各种复杂、高难度的运算公式和数字模型。”

幸运的是，有人从国外带回两个美国“华盛顿号”核潜艇的儿童模型玩具，玩具窗户掀开后，里面是密密麻麻的设备，这令黄旭华高兴极了。他没想到，这两个玩具，竟然和他们凭着零零散散的资料、完全靠想象画出来的核潜艇图纸，基本上一样，“核潜艇就是这样子，没什么大不了的。”

上世纪60年代，黄旭华和同事们夜以继日攻克了核潜艇的动力、线型、结构、水声、武备、通讯、生命保障等核心技术难题。1970年中国第一艘鱼雷攻击型核潜艇下水。1974年8月1日，中国第一艘核潜艇被命名为“长征一号”，正式列入海军战斗序列。至此，中国成为世界上第五个拥有核潜艇的国家。

1988年4月29日，中国核潜艇首次进行深潜试验。深潜试验是考核核潜艇在极限情况下结构和通海系统的安全性，在核潜艇深水试验中最富风险性和挑战性.“一个扑克牌大小的钢板，承受水的压力是一吨多，一百多米长的艇体，任何一个钢板不合格、一条焊缝有问题、一个阀门封闭不足，都可能导致艇毁人亡。”黄旭华这样形容深潜试验的危险性。

试验开始前，有几个艇员偷偷给家里写了信，“万一回不来，未了的事情，请家里代为料理”，实际上是遗书。64岁的黄旭华当即决定一同下潜，让艇员们有了信心。试验成功，这个世界上第一位亲自参与核潜艇深潜试验的总设计师，出艇后即兴写下：花甲痴翁，志探龙宫；惊涛骇浪，乐在其中！

从1958到1986年，由于工作内容涉及到国家机密，黄旭华没有回过一次老家探望父母。30年中，他和父母的联系只有一个海军信箱。“父亲去世，我也没回家……他只晓得我在北京工作，从来不知道我在什么单位，在干什么。”黄旭华说。

直到1987年，上海一家杂志发表了一篇关于黄旭华的报道，黄旭华把杂志寄给了母亲。“后来听我妹妹讲，母亲看了一遍又一遍，满脸都是泪水，她特地把家里的子子孙孙叫到一块，说： ‘三哥的事情，大家要谅解。’ ”

现在，每天清晨，黄旭华依然会出现在他的院士办公室，戴着一副老花镜整理文档、与科研人员交流。他不需要助理和保姆，经常一个人拎起水壶去打水。多年过着雷打不动的规律生活，早上6点起床，6点半去打太极长拳，7点钟吃饭，再去上班。然而毕竟93岁了，身体只允许他每天工作一上午，他常感觉到“年纪越大，时间越不够”。
