China PRs and India Indian PRs have been long using Singapore as a stepping stone to the West.
Even those who became Singapore citizens did so for one reason--to use it to move on to Australia, USA, NZ or Canada.
I recently met 5 foreigners who became citizens of Singapore living happily in one of the above countires.
In betwen guffaws they told me that the only reason they became Singapore citizens was the Singapore passport-- The Singapore passport provided them the ease and short waiting period to migrate to these Western countries.
If they had applied from India or China it would have taken them years and years and many times it would have been impossible.
The funny thing was this. Two of them still had HDB flats that were rented out and providing them a good source of income.
Everyone then again let of squeals of laughter --this time at the stupid Sinkies.
I tell you it all sounded very comical.
Believe me this is all true.

My neighbour in Beijing told me straight in the face that he is only using Singapore as a stepping stone. He wants to go to USA but his aunt, who is a green card holder refused to help him. He lacks working experience and his English is really bad. He is now working in NTU as a research fella under another PRC professor.

He is one of those PRC FT where the government hopes to retain when they cannot get to another foreign country and lan lan has to stay in Singapore.

And btw he is a wife beater and he live off his in laws who are retired civil servants.

yeah, same here.I stay at Geylang Bahru and i know this China factory girl, whom she had successfully got her Red Citizenship and she had rented out her flat to foriegners.Now she went back to China and stay with her husband and kids there.She did not intend to stay here but she want to use her flat as a money making machine for her.The amount of rental here if convert to their RMB is alot alot.

She's not a degree holder.But, how can she get the citizenship is one thing i need to ask the government.Then, how come when she was not here staying in her flat and not even in Singapore, the government still let her rent out her flat???
