There are anti vaxxers that I certainly feel sorry for.
For example I have a good friend whose daughter almost died after her BCG jab and was in intensive care for 4 days.
Since then the whole family has been terrified of vaccines. Can you blame them? Wouldn't anyone who has faced the same horror of watching a child on life support be freaked out at the thought of having to risk having to go through the same experience.
Precisely.
I agree!
But this is a bias. It is not based on statistical probability and scientific evidence.
As drs we have great dififculty with such patients because on one hand I totally understand why they think this way and empathize with them. But on the other hand we are also obliged to give all the information and counseling and document.
To the extent i have to say I have exhausted all avenues explained ad nauseam but the patient has made their decision.
Because let's say they kena TB or covid because didnt get vaccine they could hire a lawyer to sue me because i did NOT counsel them properly.
Sigh.
We need to stop this shit. If patient decides they take responsibility. Indemnify the drs for heavens sake!
Take tobelighlight for instance. If he or she kena covid. He could sue his dr for not advising him properly to take the vaccine. But we all know his or her position on the vaccine right?
Unlike financial advisors who can say things like past performance does not indicate future performance and dole out advice.....drs cannot say past reports of complications with the vaccine do not indicate future reports of complications and get away with it.
Similarly someone takes the vaccine. Gets GBS
It was never documented that GBS as a complication was discussed or warned. Patient sues dr. Wins.
