What the police say
A police spokesman said regular enforcement operations are conducted to keep such activities in check. They arrested 5,047 foreign women islandwide for vice-related activities in 2008, as compared with 5,402 arrests in 2007.
That is to say, number of vice-related arrests in SG by police:
2007 5,402
2008 5,047
In other words, the police is trying to give the impression that vice-related activities have gone down from 2007 to 2008. Any SG cheongster will tell you that in fact, vice-related activities have gone up in these 2-3 years! The reported figures by the police did not tally with observations.
I don't think those scholars dare to cook up the reported numbers. I think a more likely explanation is that the police did less vice-related enforcements in 2008 as compared in 2007, hence, resulting in lesser arrests.
These police scholars are really chia liao bee... dare to publish this kind of figures some more... they think we are stupid...
