Malaysia - Harian Metro reported that an 18-year-old girl in Kapar developed problems with her eyesight a day after wearing cheap contact lenses.
Nabila Rosli, who bought a pair for only RM25 (S$10) in Seremban last Thursday, woke up the following day with painful, swollen eyes and could not see.
"I bought them because the colour was interesting and they were very cheap but the next morning, I woke up in darkness.
"This isn't the first time I've worn contact lenses. After wearing them, I cleaned them as usual and removed them before I went to sleep," she said, adding that she continued to have blurred vision for the next two days.
She said she had to receive treatment for her eyes at a clinic for a week before her eyesight finally improved.
"I will never wear contact lenses again," she said.
