A pregnant 14-year-old was advised by her boyfriend's mother to take the Indonesian traditional medicine 'jamu' to induce a miscarriage.
That did not work and a visit to the Yishun Polyclinic three months later in July 2009 confirmed that she was five months pregnant.
On Tuesday, Muhammad Danial Razali, 20, pleaded guilty to having sex with a girl under the age of 16.
District Judge Roy Neighbour ordered a pre-sentence report to gauge the suitability of placing him on probation.
The next hearing will be on Dec 29. Deputy Public Prosecutor Davyd Chong said that Muhammad Danial met the girl in October 2008 through her schoolmates.
They started going steady. By that time, he had dropped out of the Institute of Technical Education.
One afternoon in November 2008, he visited her flat in Sembawang. It was during the school holidays and while her younger sister was busy with the computer in the other room.
