President Nathan, who is a highly respected figure in the Middle-est, was accorded with unprecendented royalty treatment on his visit to Oman.

SINGAPORE: Singapore’s President, SR Nathan, is on a 12—day visit to the Gulf.

On Saturday evening he met the Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said.

Arabian horses from the royal stables led the two—kilometre procession to the Al—Alam palace —— a rare sight that drew plenty of curious stares.

It is the first time President Nathan is visiting Oman, and this trip reflects the keen friendship between both countries.

It is also expected to boost economic ties.

Later at the palace, both leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, and exchanged views on regional developments.
