Resident displays China flag to mark Chinese National Day

This picture of a Chinese flag apparently hung on a HDB block was spotted on a local forum by iceboyboy. The picture has been making its rounds on the internet today (Oct 1), which is China's National Day.

China celebrates the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China today. An elaborate ceremony was held at Tian'anmen Square in the heart of Beijing to commemorate 60 years of Communist Party rule.

Another STOMPer, Ah Tiong, who also spotted the flag on the forum, said:

"I was shocked to see this in Singapore.

"I wonder if the authorities will do something about it."

When Singaporeans are forced by the RCs or PORLUMPARS to hang the Singapore flag, that's when you should complain. Not this!

Showing off home country flags and culture is very common in other countries where there are immigrants. In the US there may even be full-fledged parades. But this is obviously a sore point here since immigrants are taking away everything sinkees have.

You are right. This practice to retain one own's culture is encouraged by countries such as USA, Canada, Australia and NZ.

But, pity the Singaporeans. The reason why they are so xenophobic is because they are 2nd class citizens in their own country.

Singaporeans should know that just because they are so obedient in their own country do not mean the foreigners need to be.
