A TRAILER driver was charged in a district court on Thursday with causing the death of an elderly pedestrian through his negligence. Bian Ruxin, 31, allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout when his vehicle hit Madam Tan Ah Peck, 82, and caused her death along Pandan Gardens on May 25. A pre-trial conference has been set for Nov 9. Bian's $10,000 police bail was extended. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to two years and/or a fine.

I am really sad that this has happened...

However to add one key point to this incident.

To my understanding, in CHINA, basically the CARS, VANS, TRUCKS, TRAILERS have RIGHT OF WAY, perhaps you can go to YOUTUBE to see the gory road kills in CHINA.

Unlike nations like SINGAPORE, which the Pedestrians have the RIGHT OF WAY, and normally Singaporean drivers would look out for jay walkers or people crossing the GREEN LIGHT/ZEBRA CROSSINGS.

However, from my observation, Chinese drivers in China would just charge through a GREEN LIGHT (for pedestrians) I was nearly knocked down by a Chinese Driver while crossing a GREEN LIGHT at least 2 times in China already. However, I've learn to WATCH OUT for Traffic in China.

What I really like in Singapore is that at ZEBRA CROSSINGS, I would say 90% of the time, Singaporean Drivers DO GIVE WAY, which is a making of a gracious nation.

In USA, EUROPE, and even HONG KONG the Drivers were friendly as well, and they are not on a rush, and always give way, seldom horn.

However, in CHINA, the Chinese mentality is "THE ROAD IS MINE"

Do go and take a ride in any China's Taxi, and you'll get the point.

So this is truly one incidents that fellow Singaporeans should take note of, as there are more and more Chinese drivers on the Road of Singapore, and when you cross the road next time, do remember that there are MANY CHINESE drivers in Singapore now adays, and these CHINESE DRIVERS DO NOT look out for people crossing the ROAD!

My condolences to the family of Madam Tan... it could happen to any of our family members... now be vigilant crossing the roads.
