Help S'pore get ahead instead of griping about PRs

my paper
AFTER reading the letters in my paper, "Some seek PR status only to get hands on CPF savings" (May 31), and, "Patriotic paddlers"
Maybe not? (June 3), I felt sorry about how the writers view foreign talent here.
As a permanent resident (PR), I do my best to fit into Singapore society.
As a teacher, I always give my best to my students, most of who are Singaporean. It would never occur to me to discriminate against them based on their nationality.
As mentioned in another letter, "Housing a factor in PRs giving up status" (my paper, June 1), PRs pay taxes, too.
They are also here to help Singapore prosper.
Saying that PRs are here merely to enrich themselves and cash in on their Central Provident Fund savings is narrow-minded and childish.
PRs have the right to choose their paths and to make plans for the future. No one should tell them what they should or should not do.
Those who complain about PRs should do their best for their country. They should try to be good citizens who can boost Singapore's progress.
Their time would be better spent doing that than gnashing their teeth over foreigners.
