Tharman: “The inflow has slowed, as we have tightened foreign worker policies significantly over the last two years.”

Wow, really Thanny? Then kindly explain how the population jumped from 5.18 million to 5.26 million a mere SIX months after last year’s elections? What, you mean to say that those numbers were AFTER moderating the inflow? HOLY KNN!

Tharman: “Some people want us to tighten even faster, while our employers and SMEs especially are opposed to that. We will have to find the right balance, in Singaporeans’ interests.”

Singaporeans’ interests you say? More like for PAP’s own interests I wager.

Tharman: “But the vitriol towards foreigners that we see especially in online discussions is quite out of our Singaporean character.”

Have you stopped to think of WHY this has happened? It seems like you know but are merely avoiding saying the real reason out loud.

Tharman: “We must remain people who show understanding and empathy towards fellow citizens of all races as well as towards foreigners working on our island”

And who is going to empathize with us locals? Not the aliens you have let in who said there are more dogs than humans no sirree!
End of the day Thanny, you have told us so much by saying so little.

The Singapore Government Linked Companies are the single biggest employer in Singapore, and the SME’s can hardly qualify to employ the number of foreigners needed even if they wished.
Has Minister Tharman done his homework or did he depend on guestimates and assumptions ?
If MOM require a company to employ ONE Singaporean before EIGHT foreigners can be employed – this policy will put alot of Singaporeans out of work.
If the employers and SMEs continue to depend on foreigners – (i.e. cheap labor) – it is only obvious that even the Government Linked Companies have ignored the call by the PAP Government for our Companies to upgrade by introducting technology, so as to improve productivity per person employed.
Clearly, the PAP Political LEEdership has lost its focus to its publicly announced agenda for Singaporeans to climb up the technological ladder and meet global competition.
The PAP Government had instead responded to the challenges from China and India – both with large population of cheap and unskileed labor – by importing in massive numbers the cheap and unskilled labor from China and India, so as to compete with these two giants.
Singaporeans who have upgraded their technology skill sets have found themselves to be unemployable unless they accept the same low wages as that paid to the imported “cheap foreign talents”.
Singaporeans are not xenophobic towards foreigners but are becoming more cynical with the duplicity of the PAP.
