<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I REFER to Mr Edwin Ng's letter yesterday, "Mistaken victim of loan shark driven from pillar to post".
I understand what he and his family must be going through now. My family and I are in the same predicament. I rented a house recently and my car, which was parked inside the premises, was splashed with paint, with an accompanying notice written on a piece of cardboard to pay up.
Furious, I called the number on the notice. They refused to believe me and demanded payment and threatened to harass me further if I didn't.
Like Mr Ng's experience, the police were quick to record my statements but were slow on follow-up. With the rapid advancement in technology, why can't the police do more?
My family and I are fearful as we do not know when the loan sharks will strike again. Can the respective government agencies do more to address this issue? Roger Quek
