Geylang's alfresco nuisance
<!-- by line --><!-- end by line -->

I HAVE noticed that coffee shops in the Geylang area are the main contributor to heavy traffic and road hazards.
These coffee shops often have their tables and chairs on the pedestrian pavement and some even place them opposite their shops. This means pedestrians have to walk on the road.
Often, cars are parked illegally at the side of the road while drivers sit in the coffee shops and keep a lookout for traffic wardens. This means pedestrians must walk even further out onto the road.
Despite my numerous complaints to the authorities, I have seen no improvement.
Do coffee shops have a licence to operate on the pavement and even opposite their shops?
