Tension has grown in the recent months between some Silat Avenue residents and the tenants putting up at the HDB hostels there.

On April 29, a tenant from the Back Packer Hostel, located on the ground floor of Block 149, Silat Avenue, said he was scalded by hot curry thrown down from a flat above.

The Indian foreign student, Mr Sukhjinder Singh, 22, believes it happened because residents there are upset that the hostel tenants in the area have allegedly made the estate noisier, especially late into the night.
