How come become like that? Since when was the flooding so bad that SCDF have to go into vehicles to rescue people. I don't remember it being so bad. In the old days, the worse flood area was Bukit Timah, but I never recall it being so bad that people were trapped in their cars and needed to be rescued. Its getting worse and worse. This kind of performance is deserving of million $ pay?

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was called into action to rescue 11 people trapped in three vehicles by a flash flood along Enterprise Road in Jurong West on Friday (June 17) afternoon.

The victims were evacuated from the vehicles - a bus, a lorry and a car - affected by torrential rain in the area.

The water level was up to knee-high in the vehicles, with those trapped donning life vests provided by SCDF as they were taken to safety.

A Facebook post by Thessa Huiying showed SCDF personnel wading through a heavy downpour to get to the affected passengers.

Ms Huiying, who was one of the passengers in the bus, said the bus captain took the wise decision of not driving through the flood.

"Uncle kept apologising to us, but I reassured him that this was not his fault. We should be thanking him instead for looking out for our safety," she wrote.

She added that an SCDF officer requested that an elderly man wear a safety vest, telling him "Uncle must be safe ok?".

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) had to be called in after waist-high flash floods caused some bus commuters to be stranded at Enterprise Road on Friday (June 17) afternoon.

Facebook user Thessa Huiying, who was travelling on bus service 252 at the time, wrote that water rose rapidly within a span of 10 minutes.

She posted photos of the flooded bus and road, as well as videos that show lorries driving through the murky water despite being partially submerged.

In her post, she thanked the bus captain for choosing to stop the vehicle, adding that he apologised to commuters for the delay even though he did not need to.

She also thanked the SCDF for checking on the commuters and reassuring them. One Malay officer even joked with an elderly man in Chinese to lighten the mood, she said.

In a Facebook post, SCDF said that other vehicles were also stalled in the flood.

After receiving an alert on the floods at 4.30pm, the SCDF helped to evacuate a total of 11 people in life vests.

There were no reported injuries.

Truely FIRST WORLD'S FIRST!

Huat Ah!

Soon the whole island will sink in order to store more water for singapore to be independent of importing it from jb.

I have actually got marooned with a few people at a bus stop, somewhere in Jurong hinterland, many years back, when the torrential rain became very heavy & the drains over flowed & we have to stand on the bus stop seats...no joke!

Praise the PAP! No one was hurt in this natural disaster. Ah Kong is certainly watching over us all.

sudden and sustained downpour in 69 years. nothing compared to what happened in texas a couple of weeks ago. much of the state was ponded and folks drowned including soldiers. sinkies should consider themselves lucky. yeah, blame the pap as usual.

natural disaster my ass. only a dumber than dumb would drive into flood waters especially when there are other heavy vehicles already stalled

where was he when an elderly man died cos the lift door opened when it was not level with the floor & when the 2 smrt workers died? roflmao

Sinkies are so fortunate there's is never any flood in their country. Only ponding.

MIW is so smart. Just need change the wordings and alone s are solved even without lifting a finger.

Ponding only le. Move on, nothing to see.

Dozen Billion Dollar Drainage Project Spending FAILURE of 1st World PAP!

So there is no murder in singapore either? The PAP will call it Premature Death?

It is my wish that a sinkhole will swallow up parliament when it is in session. That will be an act of god to punish the PAP.

Right-wingers deserve such fate. So, far the PAP has escaped the sword of wrath. Could you go to church and pray for god to act on the PAP?
