KULAIJAYA: Three, including an auxiliary policeman and a suspect died in an accident involving a police vehicle, a Proton Iswara and a city bus at KM24 along Jalan Johor Baru-Ayer Hitam.

The deceased are Kons M. Amir Fairuz M. Sobri, 21, suspect M. Marimuthu, 38, and Indonesian permanent resident (PR) holder Rosde Tukiyo, 48, who drove the Proton Iswara.

The police vehicle a Land Rover was carrying four police officers and four hypermarket employees picked up for stealing items from a premise in Senai. The group were heading for the Senai police station at around 7.40pm on Saturday when the incident took place.

Kulaijaya deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Mohad Idris Samsuri said that the team of police had just picked up the four suspects aged between 26 and 60 years after receiving a report from the hypermarket's management.

“We believe that the police vehicle lost control, collided into the divider, entered the oncoming traffic and smashed into the bus and the Proton Iswara,” he said on Sunday, adding that investigations were ongoing to determine the actual position of the vehicles at the time of the incident.

He added that the two other passengers in the Iswara, three police officers and three suspects were sent to Hospital Kulai and Hospital Sultanah Aminah for treatment and are in stable condition.

The bus driver and 24 passengers onboard were unharmed during the incident.
