A STOMPer claims her car was hit by a Police Special Operations Command (SOC) vehicle along North Canal Road. Instead of stopping to assess the damage however, the vehicle simply drove off after the accident.

The SOC are an elite tactical unit of the Singapore Police Force, specializing in a range of operations in crisis situations.

In an email today (Apr 20) the STOMPer wrote:

"My 6-month-old car was hit by a Police Special Operations Command (SOC) vehicle last Friday (April 16) at 7.10 pm on North Canal Road.

"The SOC vehicle travelling on lane to my right. It came from behind and hit my right mirror, smashing it and another glass pane near it.

"It then sped off without stopping.

"I reported the accident to the Orchard Neighbourhood Police Centre on Apr 16 at 7.30 pm. I was informed that there were two SOC vehicles (YM3894C and YM3978U) travelling on North Canal Road at the time of the accident.

"I was given the Traffic Police telephone numbers to follow up on the matter.

"Three days later I called them up and was referred from one department to another. Finally, after several rounds of this, I managed to speak to the officer-in-charge of my case. However, I was told that he had not received the report from SOC.

"As citizens we are required to file police reports immediately after accidents. I cannot understand therefore why the SOC have not filed their report after so many days!

"Please see the attached files on my broken mirror which even has the red paint of the SOC vehicle on it."

Police has contacted STOMP to confirm that it is investigating a non-injury accident between a Police Special Operations Command vehicle and a private vehicle which happened along North Canal Road on April 16.

Police said in its reply:

"In response to media queries, Police confirm that we are investigating into a non-injury accident between a Police Special Operations Command
(SOC) vehicle and a private vehicle which occurred along North Canal Road on 16 Apr 2010.

"We would like to assure the STOMPer that the Police are taking the matter seriously and investigations are already in progress.

"Police have been in contact with the STOMPer"

The driver and the look out now will piss in their pant for not reporting the accident.

The police is unable to contact the SOC hit and run driver. He has fled home to romania.

That's not special ops anymore :p

The numbers were YM3894C and YM3978U similar to this one!

That owner should had called 999 on the spot and report that he suspected some terrorist had impersonated police and driving Special Ops Commands trucks & hit & run.

Ask them to turn out the SAF commandos & gurkhas! :D
