A police sergeant who accessed the Ministry of Home Affairs' computerised system to screen his former girlfriend was jailed for two months on Wednesday.
Muhammad Alfian Roslan, 24, admitted to four charges of unlawfully accessing the computer system at Kampong Java Neighbourhood Police Centre and Moulmein Neighbourbood Police Post on Apr 6 and 12 respectively.
A district court heard that Alfian's ex-girlfriend, Ms Nur'ain Mohd Rahiman, 24, lodged a report against him on Apr 11 for harassing her by calling and stalking her after they had broken up. She claimed that he had managed to find out her new address and mobile phone number.
An internal investigation was conducted into Alfian's suspected misuse of the Frontline Officers' Computerised System (Focus) to find out Ms Nur'ain's new address and cellphone number.
