Police seize 3.5kg of cannabis worth HK$600,000 in raid on secluded Hong Kong village house

Police confiscated 3.5kg of suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of HK$600,000 during a pre-dawn raid on a secluded village house in Hong Kong today.
Officers suspect the house at So Kwu Wat Tsuen in Tuen Mun was used as a den for packaging drugs. So far, no one has been arrested.
According to police, officers from Tuen Mun district special duty squad launched an investigation after receiving a tip-off.
Officers raided the house off So Kwu Wat Tsuen Road at about 4.30am.
“Inside the premises, about 3.5kg of what appeared to be cannabis buds were seized along with packaging equipment and an electronic weighing scale,” police said in a statement.
The haul could be sold for about HK$600,000 in local entertainment venues, according to police. Investigation is continuing.
On August 10, police arrested three people and confiscated 520 marijuana plants from a house in Pat Heung.
On July 30, officers arrested two suspected triad members and seized 340 marijuana plants from two village houses in Yuen Long and Tuen Mun.
Detectives were investigating whether the three cases are linked.
Police figures show seizures of cannabis rose by 44 per cent to 98kg in the first eight months of this year from 68kg in the same period last year.
