Police recover stolen car in 15 minutes
KUALA LUMPUR: Quick action by police foiled an attempt by two men to escape with a stolen car.
The two men were arrested within 15 minutes after a 22-year-old man sought the help of a traffic policeman after realising his car had gone missing from a parking bay in a complex at Bukit Bintang here at about 7pm on Wednesday.
City deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Amar Singh said the traffic policeman immediately alerted the control room.
The stolen Proton Wira car was seen being towed by a taxi along Jalan Pudu.
When asked to stop, the driver tried to knock down the policeman.
“Another policeman fired two shot at the car’s tyres, forcing the driver to stop,” he said.
Police arrested the two men, aged 22 and 42, who were in the car.
Initial investigations revealed both suspects had previous criminal records for theft.
