Police joint operation nets 63 suspects for drug, immigration offences

SINGAPORE - Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Singapore Police Force, Central Narcotics Bureau, Singapore Civil Defence Force and Singapore Customs conducted a 17-hour operation, checking public entertainment outlets and public housing estates in Sembawang, Yishun, Ang Mo Kio, Hougang and Serangoon Gardens.
The operation that started at 10am on March 12, 2013 led to the arrest of 63 suspects for various criminal, drug-related and immigration offences.
Breaches to licensing conditions were detected at two public entertainment outlets, and SCDF detected fire safety violations at three public entertainment outlets.
Contraband cigarettes and chewing tobacco were also among the items seized during the operation.
Investigations against the persons arrested are ongoing, and the respective agencies are following up on the violations and offences detected.
