SINGAPORE: A 31-year-old man, who pretended to be a police officer to cheat an elderly woman of S$2.3 million, was charged on Friday with 36 counts of cheating.
Lim Kah Yong, who is unemployed, allegedly deceived Madam Choo Ah Wah, 68, into handing over between S$5,300 and S$397,000 each time on several occasions within a two-year period from 2009.
He allegedly posed as either "ASP Kwok" or "ASP Mohd Azlan" from Bedok Police Station, and also as "William Chew from the Deputy Public Prosecutor's Office Claims Department".
He was also charged last week with one count of conning Madam Mary Choo into paying S$225,000 to him.
He will be back in court on December 23.
