A woman is alleging she was sexually assaulted inside an Uber car on Tuesday.

According to Toronto police, a 25-year-old woman entered an Uber vehicle in the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue area and was getting dropped off at her home in the Lawrence Avenue West and Avenue Road area when she was sexually assaulted by the driver.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man wanted for the assault.

The man is identified as Amritpal Singh, 21 and is described as having short, black, spiked hair, a short chin-strap beard, and his Uber profile is ‘Amritpal.’

He may be driving a 2014 black Chevrolet Cruz with the Ontario license plate BWMA 171.

Uber has issued a statement saying the driver is no longer with the company. They added the allegations are “disturbing” and they are cooperating with police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
