KUANTAN: Quick action by the police helped foil the abduction of an eight-year-old girl here. The victim, who was found in Bukit Setongkol with her hands tied, was not hurt.
She was found about an hour after she was said to have been snatched by two men in a car when playing in front of her house in Alor Akar at about 6pm yesterday.
Kuantan MCA division chief Datuk Ti Lian Ker lauded the police for their efficiency that led to the discovery of the girl. “The police immediately carried out road blocks after being informed of the incident.
The girl was believed to have been dropped off at Bukit Beirut in Bukit Setongkol here. The suspects may have decided to abandon their plans following the road blocks,”’ Ti said, adding that a resident of Bukit Beirut who saw the girl informed the police.
Ti, who knew the girl’s father, said he went to Bukit Beirut with her father and a police officer. He said he was told that the suspects had given the girl a pill to swallow but she spat it out. They then tried to get details on her family and their financial status.
The suspects were said to have told the victim not to worry and that she would get to see her father the next day, said Ti. Family members declined to speak to the press and the police could not be contacted.
