Police arrest pickpocket in connection with thefts in Chinatown

Police arrested a 57-year-old woman on Wednesday, in connection with a series of theft from persons reported in Chinatown.
Wallets and valuables have been reported stolen from the handbags of unsuspecting victims in Chinatown since October this year.
Officers from the Central Police Division were conducting anti-crime rounds at People's Park Complex when they spotted the suspect behaving suspiciously, following closely behind other shoppers.
The officers kept a close watch on the suspect and trailed her from Chinatown MRT station to Bugis Junction where the suspect was seen taking a purse out from the haversack of a teenage girl.
