SINGAPORE - A man who lodged a false police report has been arrested by the police.

On Sept 5, the man called '999' reporting that he had been robbed of $2,000 by two men wielding a parang in the vicinity of Sims Drive.

The investigation officer later detected discrepancies in the information provided by the man.

His lie was subsequently exposed after the investigating officer probed further.

The man will be charged in court on Oct 31.

He faces a maximum jail term of three years, a maximum fine of S$10,000 or both.
