PM - One-Party System for Singapore?

Alamak - LHL is now advocating a one-party system for Singapore.
He said that if the PAP finds it difficult to find good candidates, how could other parties do so?

He is assuming that talent only lies within the PAP in Singapore. The PAP only can provide "good" government. Maybe that is why MM is in China to learn from the Communist Pary?

So why have elections? Where is the so-called democratic system?
What happens when the PAP turns bad ? This is not to say that it is not turning bad already!

This uncle believes that he has now given a very useful weapon to the opposition parties to use.

There should be enough voices in Parliament to ensure no one-party complete autocracy!

Money is not the only thing that attract talent. Look at our Cabinet and Parliament. Money failed. It only attracted ballsless chaps who want to make more money, not serve the people.

I suspect the real talented people are waiting for the Old Man to go meet his wife. They will appear thereafter. No one wants to antagonize the Old Man. Just listen to FS and don't you think it is scary?

It shows how much he is out of touch with the ground when he framed the coming election as about putting together the next A team.
You have a PM who does not talk (or care) about critical issues like unaffordable public housing and healthcare,locals being robbed of jobs by poor quality foreigners and overcrowding of public transport.

It also reflects his lack of commercial sense despite the party being labelled (wrongly I believed) as being corporate like.
Imagine trying to convince people to buy your product by saying you have the best HR Department to recruit the best talent to run the company.
Do we care who Sony, Daimler Benz or Boeing is recruiting when we buy their products?
Its a given that the best companies will try to attract the best talent.
In the commercial sector, you are judged on your product and in politics by how you can improve the quality of life of the locals.

The PAP is not Singapore (despite what they try to potray) and it is in the best interest of the country/people if talent is spread amongst all politcal spectrums/sectors.
He is saying Monopoly is good(esp PAP monopoly of power).If this is true, better change the economic textbooks -at least for the Singapore version .

Is his main aim self preservation or the welfare of the people ?.

LHL does not realise that with all the talents supposedly concentrating on one party why does the super talented world's highest paid Prime Minister need one MM, two SMs, two deputy PMs and three or four full Ministers to support him?

Neither is democracy a "better" system. if not, people would have stopped illogical policies like the torturing of prisoners in G Bay, the illegal invasion of iraq. Many Africna countries started with democracy--why are they still so poor?
