Play it safe with firecrackers, says minister
DEPUTY Home Minister Datuk Lee Chee Leong has urged those playing with firecrackers to do so at safe places which will not affect other people, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.
His call comes after a government decision to conditionally lift its 16-year ban after several groups appealed for its lift.
This year, Chinese associations, political parties, non-governmental organisations and residents associations can light firecrackers at safe locations.
However, the bodies have to apply a permit with the Home Ministry.
