PLA air force heavy bombers bombarded Yellow River to break ice blockage

Ice prevented ships from using the river safely. So People Liberation Army pilots used the ice sheet as practice bombing target. With 36 bombs from 3 heavy bombers they cleared up the ice which blocked the Yellow River shipping lines. Can RSAF pilots bomb Orchard Road to clear Ponding? :p

On March 22nd, a task force of Ministry of Emergency Situations of Primorskiy Territory blasted ice on the river of Arsenyevka. The ice posed danger to the wooden bridge of a nearby village.

The task force commander spoke about peculiarities of ice blasting.

The dangerous zone was marked with warning signs.

A fishing inspector made sure all environmental safety standards were met.

An automated bore.

The machine drilled a borehole in this one-meter thick ice quickly.

It was time to plant an explosive.

They did their job slowly and carefully, commenting on every step they took.

Some sticky tape.

They put all that into the borehole.

And covered it with snow.

Done.

No matter how prepared you are, an explosion is always sudden.

A wall of broken ice rose over the trees and then fell down slowly.

The fishing inspector checked if fish has been killed but didn’t find any. The task force kept working.

It is a matter of scope level. If you are a town mayor responsible of only a tiny fraction of a frozen river, then you protect your 1 or 2 bridges that's enough. If you are national level govt, responsible for huge territory covering few thousand miles of frozen river, you need river shipping to resume and you have the air force under your command - which they do bombing training elsewhere anyway... you shift their target onto your frozen river and make instant fishballs out of the poor fish loh. LOL!

Anyway don't think the Russian fish can survive these blastings also.

If you let @dozen tons of huge ice sheets ran downstream to crash against small bridges, good bye to your bridges - worse then ponding hor!
