The Indian city of Mumbai is in shutdown mode due to the spread of the H1N1 virus.

Schools and colleges are temporarily closed for at least a week.

Cinemas and other entertainment complexes will also be closed for three days in Mumbai, India's commercial capital.

Maharashtra state, of which Mumbai is a part, has seen 11 of India's 19 swine flu deaths.

Maharashtra officials have said the temporary closure is only a prevention measure and citizens have no need to panic.

Recently, India's Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, stressed that swine flu is just one of many threats to health in the country.
