The four panels of the historic Berlin Wall which are currently on display at Bedok Reservoir Park will be returned to their owners by the end of this year.

The 5m long section of the wall, which was unveiled in January 2010 to much fanfare, was here on indefinite loan from American oil industry veteran Robert A. Hefner III, 78, and his Singapore-born wife MeiLi.

The Hefners plan to move the segments back to the United States, to display on one of their properties.

The concrete slabs, currently housed in a custom-built $2 million glass, steel and concrete facility at the park, are in Singapore as the result of a friendship between the Hefners and the former Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo

Once the Berlin wall is removed, perhaps we can spend another $400K and rename the park to Bedok Reservoir Park.

After returning back the Berlin Wall to the Hefners, I suggest that PAP Ministers and MPs be put inside the $2 million custom built glass as the latest exhibition of the Park.. S'poreans can visit the Bedok Reservoir Park to see these PAP monkeys..

Obviously they are pissed that George was voted out and they are showing it.

I think the statement "The concrete slabs, currently housed in a custom-built $2 million glass, steel and concrete facility at the park, are in Singapore as the result of a friendship between the Hefners and the former Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo" is a rather careless one because it says that the slabs were here as a result of the friendship.

Nice what!

Nice piece of artwork. But in the first place how does a piece of Berlin Wall gets emblem into our landscape? What significant or heritage values does it brings?

And cost taxpayer $2 million.

PAP has wasted billions upon billions of taxpayers $. It's damn difficult to determine which is the "stupidest" waste because there have been many e.g. naming of the budget terminal, hiring mercenaries sports people, giving education freebies to foreigners without bonds,.....etc, etc.

Why not keep the structure...can display you know who there, when the clock stop..."WHEN"? So petty this Hefner...is he related to Hugh Hefner..we can have that structure on permanent display...the entire PLAYBOY Catalog...maybe that, will prevent people from jumping..

hehehe... good riddance to bad rubbish.

No wonder Bedok ReserVoir have such bad connotations; must be the Curse of the BerLin WaLLs, and hence it's remoVaL afer consuLtations with some Feng Shui masters..

I worry the Park will have some sort of a Satanic ritual gathering in the middle of the night if we have the embalmed body of the Old Goat inside the glass..

please don't make Bedok Reservoir Park a mausoleum...

With the number of suicides in Bedok Reservoir... a mausoleum/cemetery/columbarium might be the most appropriate use of the site.

I am just puzzled why no one vandalised this exhibit since it was placed there. Artisitic talent is always appreciated.
