Good response from Philip Ang.

Shanmugam is courting trouble again. The last time he did that to WP over Yaw's affair, his own affair and poor conduct came to light. This guy has no moral standing whatsoever.

When I read Minister Shanmugam’s lengthy Facebook post sliming WP, it gave me the impression that he’s someone highly overpaid.

Two wrongs certainly don’t make a right but in reality, WP’s lapses pale in comparison with PAP’s/PAP town councils’.

Regardless of WP not keeping its election promises, Shanmugam should not have assumed he could stand on moral high ground to lecture opposition members. Not when after PAP had sold public assets to its own $2 company AIM behind HDB residents’ back.

Shanmugam’s description of AHPETC sounded like the public’s perception of PAP town councils.

For example, when he said “mismanagement of its town council”, didn’t PAP MPs alsomismanaged their town councils so badly that HDB lifts have started breaking down regularly in record time, caused a resident to suffer spinal injury and another getting killed, a record number of residents inconvenienced, etc? Link

And to confirm PAP’s mismanagement of its town councils, the BCA had to be roped to save PAP’s hide by introducing measures to tighten lift maintenance and enhance lift safety.

Below is a list of descriptions by Shanmugam which could also have aptly described PAP/its town councils:

– The rot is at the top.
– Suppressing the truth.
– Truth is a tradable commodity.
– Used highly irregular shortcuts. (for economic growth)
– Obviously … thought … they could play … residents – and Singaporeans – for dummies.

Unless PAP’s house is in order, the pot should even try to call the kettle black

Sham is shameless.. PAP lost millions and mismanaged public trust when they use Town council money to buy
highly toxic High 5 notes.

Can he account for this..?

Good examples by Philip Ang.

Socio-political commentators must step to the fore and whack PAP on all its TC discrepancies. If you just read the Braddell Brothel Broadsheet, you come away with the impression PAP TCs are squeaky clean and only WP TC is full of problems. Nothing could be further from the truth.

When voters next go to the booth in 2020, all they knew to know is that PAP has used TCs as tool to cripple the opposition and thereby undermine democratic processes in Singapore.

People like Goh Meng Seng will continue to harp on how we must hold WP to a higher standard than PAP and deliberately miss forest for trees.

If Sham were to read this, he be walking with a black pot over his head.

Both he and his party are now going to table changes to the Town Council Act. And the intention is clear - the focus in on enforcement action.

We are all know how these things are played out. Just last week the competition watchdog announced that they are looking into complaints of lift spare parts refused to be supplied by distributors. In the same announcement, they let be known that EMS which is 60% owned by HDB has agreed to supply and there will be no restrictions and they were looking at other suppliers. Why was EMS given the inside track? They should have been fined as they were major player and initially refused to supply the parts.

Really to hear that the CEO of the Govt's watchdog who is the son of a former long standing member of the PSC can be bullied in this way is truly shocking.
