Peugeot’s incredibly frugal electric scooter

peugeotevivacityscooter.jpg

Though its 4kW engine is the equal of a frugal 50cc scooter, its running costs will be one tenth as it recharges from a domestic powerpoint at regular tarrifs. In Paris where its 100 km range will be more than adequate, that will equate to EUR 0.4 (about US$0.56) per 100 km.

So if you cover the yearly average scooter distance of 4,000 kms, total running costs will be EUR 16 (US$22.67)!

Technical information

Engine : "brushless" synchronous electric motor with permanent magnets, air-cooled Fuel : Lithium ion Cobalt battery (approx. 25kg) Modes : economical - 45km/h – reverse Charging time : rechargeable in 4 hours On-board capacity : 2.9 kWh Max. power : 4kW Clutch : direct drive electric motor Transmission : notched belt Frame : steel double cradle Front suspension : ø 32 mm telescopic fork Rear suspension : adjustable single shock absorber Front brake: ø 200 mm disk Rear brake: ø 190 mm disk Front/rear tyres: 120/70 - 12 Dimension Lxwxh: 1910 x 680 x 1168 mm Seat height: 786 mm Dry weight: 115 kg

Really look like Chinese electric scooters....they are everywhere!

Heart of the system is the battery. The rest of the items, electric motor, brakes have been around for ages.

Who ever comes out with the next gen battery will rule. It needs to be company with both R&D and mfg expertise.

As is often the case - lab might come out with good test of concept but impossible to make it a commercial success when it comes to mfg. Needs both.

Even if alternative fuels vehicals become viable.
They will not succeed in Spore unless the PAP gov't can somehow profit from it. Only have to look at the $$$ they are currently making from the sale of cars, parking, petroleum,..

so we have more than one year wait, to get this electric scooter, it might be possible for people who have a house, then they can charge the scooter behind the fends.

Peugeot E-Vivacity electric scooter slated for 2011 release

Electric scooters seem to be a segment of the two-wheeled market that's finally ready to heat up. The combination of a practical and comfortable little electric two-wheeler seems to make sense since many scooter riders use their machines mostly in dense urban areas and therefore don't need extensive speed or range.

French manufacturer Peugeot is looking to re-enter the electric scooter market in 2011 with its new E-Vivacity. Peugeot's first foray into the market took place way back in 1996 with the Scoot'elec. Unlike that model, though, the E-Vivacity will sport modern lithium cobalt batteries that can offer a range of up to 60 miles with a city-rational top speed of 28 miles per hour – about on par with conventional 50cc four-stroke models.

A full 35 liters of storage space sits below the seat with the battery pack occupying the space behind the rider's feet. A charge using the standard European 230V plug is said to take four hours with the first two offering up 80-percent capacity. Peugeot estimates the power unit can take 1,000 complete charging cycles with no degradation in performance. No price is yet available, but there's talks of possible battery leasing.

no need lah

the battery can be taken out and charged at home using regular three pin plug

i never heard an electric scooter which have removable batteries to charge at home.

Already in Singapore - look for Zeco Electric Systems. There's a German dude called Jan Croeni selling it in Lavender.

Cheers,

Seems like most of these electric scooters are made in China. Motor, frame, battery all from China. It makes sense because these scooters do not go too fast and thus do not need sophisticated suspension geometry etc etc.

Ideal for Chinese production.

E-MAX

The e-max scooter, was origianlly produced in Germany, from 2003 until 2006 but the company fell on hard times and entered into bankruptcy. The company assets were acquired by a group of investors who formed e-max ev's Germany.

The new company turned to Paolo Valcic in Italy who designed a whole new line of scooters. The scooters are built in a production facility in China.

The company now offers a range of six scooters, the 90S, 110S, 100L, 120L, 140L and 190L. The S in the name indicates that the scooter has Silicone batteries while the L designates Lithium batteries.

All of the scooters with the exception of the 190L offer a 4000W motor but are limited to a tops speed of 45mph to classify as a moped under EEC rules. The 190L has a 7000W motor giving it a tops speed of up to 100kph.

All six models appear to be the same design and all of them can seat two people. They each have hydraulic disk brakes on both front and back wheels and each of them runs on a 48V system. The major difference in the scooters appears to be in their battery capacity. The 90S has a capacity of 45AHrs offering a range of 45-60 kilometers. The 110 60AHrs and a range of 70-90 Kilometers. The 100L has a capacity of 40AHrs and a range of 60-80 Kilometers. The 120L steps up to 60AHrs for a range of 90-115 Kilometers. The 140L offers 90AHrs and a range of 130-150 Kilometers. The battery capacity and range of the 190L hasn't currently been announced.
