For all the crappy talk from Khaw and PM Lee, it looks nothing but rhetoric. Putting it in a nutshell, the WP has already scored political points even before any by election, if there's to be any.

The fact that PM Lee and Khaw were quick with their words is just testimony to how rattled they are now, upon seeing the firm and decisive action of the WP. This is something very notably missing in the PAP ranks, when it comes to choosing between the principles it purports to hold, and the seats it risks losing.

Talk is cheap. WP did more than talk. Unlike PAP.

If at all, it shows that it is PM who is unable to handle the fallout from the Yaw Shin Leong case. He now doesn't know how to "fix" the WP to make it look bad. That's why he is rattling his mouth off that Hougang voters have been let down.

Hougang voters let down? Really? How about testing it out with a by election in Hougang then?

Good point. PAP would surely win back Hougang. So why would PAP delay the opportunity to win back Hougang?

Quick on the uptake, Mr Low Thia Khiang has responded by saying that WP has not let the people down, and that “whatever is wrong, we’ve put it right”. Mr Low was speaking to the media after being greeted by a very warm reception at Wednesday evening’s Meet-the-People session at Hougang Avenue 5.

PAP Chairman and Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan has also accused WP of “misleading” the voters of Hougang, and urged WP to “come clean” with the people what information they had about Mr Yaw prior to the May election. Mr Khaw also said that once a person enters politics, there is no difference between his or her public and private life.

Voters of Hougang being mislead by WP? Really? Then how about Bishan voters, who voted for then Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng, only to see him resign from his ministerial post shortly after winning? How about Marine Parade voters, who voted for then Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, only to see him step down from the cabinet and become Emeritus SM after his electoral victory was secured?

Do Mr Khaw’s statements even come close to being reasonable? You be the judge. I have no need to elaborate.

What is in the offering?, Desmond Choo...??? ( don't forget UNCLE Choo), what do they have best to offer to the residents of Hougang after 20 years of 'half a bucket of water' candidates, 'threats', 'no upgrading'?. What will WP offer next, will they pull another, 'rabbit' out of the hat, like "mao"? Stay tune for the continuing saga of "Yagate", now in Season 1.

There's plenty of PAP crap out there. Many of them are holding senior positions. Even their sons & daughters are an embarassment to their parents;)
It's the PAP style to cover up & close ranks. With this kind of attitude it's no surprise that our PM is unable to exploit the situation. To do so would bring attention to the rot that exists in the PAP. As they say people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks:rolleyes:

Let Hougang by-elections be a referendum on the government's performance since last May till now.

Will Hougang screw Low TK just like what those beasts at Potong Pasir did to Chiam See Tong?

The voters of PP didn't screw CST or Lina. They still gave Lina 49% on account of CST, i.e. meaning had CST stood there again, he'd win again. It was the political inexperience of Lina that cost her that 2% more, couldn't blame it on the voters. The voters of Hougang gave WP 65% on account of the works LTK had done in Hougang and cheering him on for daring to contest an GRC which is neighboring Hougang anyway. Whoever WP fielded, YSL or someone else, would have gotten that 65% too.

<!-- /jumpto --><!-- bodycontent -->An own goal occurs in goal-scoring games when a player scores a goal that is registered against his or her own team. The term has become a metaphor for any action that backfires upon a person.[SUP][1][/SUP]
