Paying TV Licence to Indonesia, & Malaysia

We should be paying our TV Licence Fees to Indonesia & Malaysia, who may have to provide us with Live Telecast of World Cup 2010.

hmmm... try saying that in Speaker's corner. I am sure a lot of us agree with you. I don't even TV that much anymore. I just watch programs on the internet and I get my news from the internet. I don't know why we continue to pay the TV license fee from years ago....

No sure about Indonesia but, am told by Malaysians that they need not pay for Radio/TV licence since year 1991.

They don't have radio/TV licence in Indonesia.

There are more than 6 channels in Indonesia, some of them even have english & chinese programs

For those channels with english programming, I would say they offer more interesting programing than the stations in Spore

Why do we need to pat TV licence? Many country in the world don't collect TC licence. But PAP keep on collecting without follow the world trend.

Just included in property tax lo. No need so many paper work and system. Can cut cost and more efficient. So easy each property increase tax by $100.

If all the taxes were combined into the a single tax aka the PAP tax, Sporeans would know how heavily they are being taxed. Inconvenience to the public is not a concern to the PAP. They can simply impose fines for any mistakes made by the public, extra $$ for the PAP.

By separating the various taxes: COE, ERP, CPF, Radio/TV tax, public transport tax, water levy, .... the PAP can maintain the illusion of low taxes. They can also tweak the taxes by increasing the various taxes upwards

The "low taxes" may be an illusion to some, but their humongous salaries are an obvious reality to all.
Or at least it should be an obvious reality, as apparently it's not.
